Funeral House

The brief was to convert an existing bungalow to a funeral home, which would contain a Chapel of Repose, Family Room, Privacy Room, Entrance hall, toilets and kitchen facilities. A vaulted roof was created in the Chapel of Repose with a linear roof-light which fills the space with natural light. The space was designed to be adaptable to suit the particular requirements of the bereaved family, with different options for seating, lighting and egress. The external spaces included a paved areas, front and back and a reflection garden with seating and planting. 

It was a finalist for Public Building of the Year award at the Building and Architect of the Year awards in the Mansion House, Dublin, in October 2018.
